Summary

Not surprisingly the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) has a comprehensive set of governing documents, however, its code of ethics is no more than a single page. The code stresses "safety, health, and welfare of the public," prohibits conflict of interest and bribery, supports learning and technical competence, and promotes non-discrimination (IEEE, 2020: 7.8).
The governance documents also contain a nom-discrimination policy (IEEE,2020: 9.26) and a 'Code of Conduct' recommending that members be respectful of others, treat people fairly, avoid injuring them, refrain from retaliation, and comply with applicable laws (IEEE, 2014). There is also a detailed section on 'working with children' that contains provisions on safety and security, confidentiality, and whistle-blowing, noting specifically that "Adults have a responsibility to ensure that this unequal balance of power is not used for their personal advantage" (IEEE, 2017).
