Summary
This is a modification of the NCERT Code of Professional Ethics for School Teachers published on the Government of Mizoram Directorate of School Education website. The introduction and elaborations before and after the principles have been dropped. Additionally, while it incorporates the same overall structure and content, it adds additional sections asserting a much increased responsibility to management and administration. For example, the first two principles now read "always be punctual in attending to duties in the school" and "always teach the curriculum after making thorough preparation for the lessons to be taught"; only after these does the direction to "treat all students with love and affection" appear (Mizoram, 2020). Also added are principles that counsel to "cooperate with the head of the institution and colleagues in and outside the institution in both curricular and co-curricular activities" and that a teacher should "recognize the management as the prime source of his sustainable development" (Ibid).
It also revises the language related to parents and society, devising these into separate sets of responsibilities. In the former, it adds "refrain from doing any thing which may undermine students confidence in their parents or guardians," and in the latter it removes "strives to develop respect for the composite culture of India among students" and replaces it with sections urging teachers "retrain from taking part in activities having potential to spread feeling of hatred or enmity among different communities, religious or linguistic groups" and to "work actively to strengthen national integration and spirit to togetherness and oneness."
