Applications of Analytics
Plagiarism Detection

Pattern recognition is used for plagiarism detection. For example, Amigud, et.al. (2017) describe a “machine-learning based framework (that) learns students’ patterns of language use from data.†This enables them to detect tracts of text not written by the particular student. In a recent high-profile case, a neural network was able to determine how much of Shakespeare’s play Henry VIII was written by a man named John Fletcher. (PlecháÄ, 2019)
